Safe Driving Saves Money

February 27th, 2011

Obtaining a new auto insurance policy can be overwhelming, especially if you are a young new driver on the road. You have many options, you can contact a local agent or you can find an exclusive agent who sells under one particular company. Look online and see what your options are price wise. Be very cautious when you are picking out your vehicle. This will determine your insurance rating. If you choose a high performance vehicle, it will be super expensive to insure and very expensive to operate, maintain and replace in the even of an accident.

High performance cars are very tempting especially when you are young, but way too expensive to operate and super expensive to insure. You will want to invest in a vehicle with high safety records and low repair costs. So be very careful when picking out what you will be driving.

If you increase your deductible, this will bring your monthly premium down significantly. The deductible is the amount of a claim that you are responsible for. The larger you make your deductible, the lower your premium.

Insurance companies do offer discount options to young drivers. One advantage to help save is maintaining a B average. This will get you the “good student” discount. Also, anytime you attend a drivers education course, this will get you savings and lower your risk.

The one thing that you have no control over that will lower your premium is age. Young people, particularly males, have a higher crash rate than older drivers, so this causes the premiums to be higher. The good news though is as you grow older and maintain a clean driving record, you will definitely see your premiums decline.

Auto Coverage

February 26th, 2011

Automobile insurance is a huge industry in the United States. Not all drivers are safe and responsible and have insurance. Auto coverage is a legal requirement to operate a vehicle.

The shapes and colors of signs on the roadway should be recognizable and known for safe driving. However, most are probably not familiar with them. Here are some of the signs you might see on the roadway, and their color. Find Prices and rates for Nevada Car Insurance.

Regulation Signs are signs that are Red, Black, or Red on White Regulatory signs, which are normally square or rectangular in shape, and indicate specific traffic regulations that must be observed. These signs will usually be black on white, red on white, or red and black on white. Examples would be: No U-Turn = Red and Black on White Sign: One Way = Black on White Sign : No Right Turn = Black on White Sign: and Wrong Way signs which are Red on a White Sign.

There are also Guide Signs, which are Green. The most common is the overhead guide sign; it provides directional guidance to exits and destinations. “Movement permitted” green guide signs are typically “exit” signs. Warning Signs, which are yellow, are often used to warn of upcoming road conditions that are hazardous and require special attention. Typically, reduced speed limits accompany these warnings.

Construction Signs are orange. Construction zones, one of the highest pedestrian fatality locations on all roadways, require special attention to warning signs and reduced speed limits. The Texas Vehicle Code provides for extensive fines for traveling above the posted construction zone speed limit. All construction zone signs are orange and include special regulatory information specific to the construction zone.

Service Signs are the color blue. Motorist services, such as information regarding the location of hospitals, police departments, and other such agencies, appear on blue service signs.

The color brown is used for Recreational signs. Recreation and cultural interest guidance are provided on brown traffic signs. Locations of national and state parks, as well as areas of historic or cultural interest, are noted on brown signs.

Traffic accidents take many lives each year. You can become a more responsible driver by familiarizing yourself with the different signs and their color.

Careful Driving

The IPDE Process is a process that helps you drive safer and to avoid dangerous situations while on the road. There are 4 steps in the IPDE Process. They are Identify, Predict, Decide, and Execute. Need information regarding Utah Car Insurance

The first step in this process is to Identify. Things you need to identify are traffic control devices, their requirements, and whether they are functioning properly. Next you must predict. You might have to predict that other drivers may or may not comply with their respective traffic control devices. Therefore, special scanning attention should be included to address “red light runners” and other driver actions that could result in a traffic crash.

The third step is also an important step, it is to Decide. For example, you would “decide” when the intersection is safe and legal to enter. Also to ensure that the traffic control device permits legal travel in your lane for the maneuver that you are about to undertake. When you enter and pass though the intersection, ensure that an adequate gap is available and that you are maintaining a sufficient space cushion. Last you must execute. An example would be maneuvering through the intersection with the brake covered, in order to ensure that a minimum stopping or maneuvering distance is available in the event that “the worst” should occur.

At intersections you should always scan for potential hazards. The possibility always exists that other drivers may disregard the traffic control device. As such, scanning techniques should be focused on cars approaching an intersection at a speed that would not permit their ability to stop.

Entering controlled intersections on a yellow light should only occur if, because of proximity or current speed, it is unsafe for you to attempt to stop prior to entering the intersection. Upon first observation of a yellow light, your safest maneuver is to attempt to slow in a manner that permits a stop at the stop bar prior to the crosswalk.

Signal light-controlled intersections are typically the highest volume and the most dangerous. To ensure safety, the responsible driver will strictly adhere to signal light requirements.

Adhering to right away rules is also highly important, in addition to traffic control device requirements, ensures continued intersection safety. Never attempt to enter an intersection that has opposing vehicular traffic, regardless of the presence of an authorizing traffic signal.

Flashing signal lights are placed for added emphasis at moderate volume intersections that are not equipped with standard traffic lights. Always be as careful with both eyes on the road when operating a vehicle. Automobile coverage should always be kept up by the driver.

Be sure and drink your orange juice. It is chock full of Vitamin C which keeps colds from every being a problem in the first place. Meeting the maximum daily requirement for Vitamin C will help to avoid colds and flu in the future.

What about Auto Insurance in Minnesota

February 24th, 2011

The Minnesota Department of Commerce has prepared this guide to help you better understand auto insurance. It gives you information on shopping for insurance, the different types of coverage, and a basic understanding of “no fault” coverage. Need information regarding Car Insurance

This Department regulates insurance agents, agencies, adjusters, and companies operating in Minnesota. If they are licensed to do business in the State, they are responsible for adhering to the laws and rules that govern the industry. This guide does not list all of these regulations.

Auto Insurance companies can protect you from the financial costs of an accident or injury, provided you have the proper coverage. Yet many people are unclear about what their insurance policy covers until it is too late. They may have difficulties settling a claim or face rate increases or termination of coverage.

Auto Insurance is a Protection. Insurance is a way of transferring risk for a loss among a certain group of people. You, and others, pay premiums to an insurance company to be reimbursed if you have an accident. The amount you can collect and under what circumstances are outlined in your policy.

Auto Insurance is absolutely Required. Under most circumstances, a licensed vehicle in the state of Minnesota must have liability, personal injury protection, uninsured motorist, and underinsured motorist coverage.

Auto Insurance is Varied. The State of Minnesota has established minimum policy requirements. Some people can only afford the minimum requirements. However, Many people choose options that exceed these minimum requirements, thereby increasing the cost of the policy.

Auto Insurance is not A savings account. The premium you pay is not deposited into an “account” for you to withdraw in the event of an accident. If it were, it would probably not be enough to cover the cost of a major claim. The claim usually always exceeds the premiums you have paid in for that year.

Auto Insurance is not Complete. Every policy has limitations on what it covers and to what extent. You may not be fully covered in every situation. Your policy will explain the limitations.

Auto Insurance is not Guaranteed. An insurance company may elect to cancel your coverage or not to renew your policy, depending on your driving record or other factors. Minnesota law establishes the standards for these cases. Usually when one company will not cover you, another one will so shop around.

The Facts of Auto Insurance

February 23rd, 2011

Auto insurance is one of those things that as soon as you think you don’t need it, IT HAPPENS! You have a wreck, and you are stuck with a damaged and un-driveable car and a huge ticket for having no insurance. Also, if the accident was you’re fault, you are responsible for the damages of the other vehicle or vehicles involved in the wreck and obviously the damage to you’re own. Get Quick Quotes for Car Insurance

On average there is over 6 million car wrecks a year in the United States. 6 million! That is over 16,400 wrecks a day. The majority of people who read this article has been involved in a car accident at some point in their lives. The importance of auto insurance is immeasurable. Also if you are involved in a car accident, and are not able to pay for the damage of the other vehicle, you are subject to be sued and slowly the bill keeps rising and rising, along with the problems. Find information regarding Car Insurance.

That $100 or $200 a month doesn’t sound so bad now does it. Yes it is tough to make that payment each month, assuming the fact that a lot of Americans live check to check. But insurance is just one of those things that when you need you need it, and after the accident has already happened, its too late I know of people who had decided to save money and not have insurance. They believed that they could and would save money by just not paying the monthly premium and just pay the ticket if they were caught driving.

Jim, a male of 27 years of age from Houston, TX did just that. Until coming home one morning after working a night shift, he was tired and weary and broadsided a vehicle after running a stop light. The ticket for no insurance was around $300, the damage to his car was over $4000, and the vehicle he struck was totalled. The driver of the other vehicle subsequently sued him, and he ended up being responsible for the damage to the vehicle, plus the fees of going to court. Not to mention the $4000 he needed to fix his own vehicle. All because he didn’t want to pay $125 a month for insurance.

He could of even legally drove with liability insurance, in which it was only going to cost him $75. The incident was a huge hit on his finances, and insists he will never drive without auto coverage again. Most people still insist on doing so, even knowing how prevelant car accidents are. Those are the people that end up in such predicaments. If you can’t afford auto insurance, you can’t afford to drive a car.

A good idea for those who do have auto insurance and are worried about those who do not, is to add uninsured motorists coverage. If you are involved in a car accident where you are struck by someone that does not carry coverage, and you do not have uninsured motorists coverage, you will be out of pocket more than likely for a period of time. In the long run you might be able to sue this person and collect, but in the mean time you have a damaged vehicle that you may not even be able to drive. With uninsured motorists coverage, you’re insurance company will cover the damage to you’re vehicle if involved in an accident with someone without insurance.

You can also carry bodily injury coverage. If you are involved in a car accident that hurts and/or kills someone, this coverage not only offers coverage for the vehicle but also provides legal defense in the case you are sued. This can be very beneficial knowing how pricey legal defense can be.

So the next time you think about operating a motor vehicle without automobile coverage, if not full coverage, at least liability coverage, ask yourself, is this really worth it. Am I really saving money? At some point you will be one of those 6 million wrecks a year. At some point you will be one of those over 16,000 car accidents a day. If you do not have auto coverage at the time of the car accident, you’re problems have only just begun.

Hail And Auto Insurance

February 23rd, 2011

There are so many different types of coverage’s when it comes to having auto insurance. In the winter of 2008 my vehicle was parked in central Kansas when a hail storm came in. Need information regarding Car Insurance.

The damage to my vehicle was bad. I mean it looked like someone just sat out and beat my car with a baseball bat. It didn’t break any glass, but the damage to the remainder of the vehicle was just horrible. Get Prices and rates for Car Insurance.

It hailed so hard, that I literally thought someone was breaking into my home. First thing I thought was, “oh my car!” Do I have insurance that will cover this?

I had a wreck earlier in the year. I struck someone when backing out of a movie theatre, and thankfully I did have auto insurance and it took care of the situation with ease. I mean that’s why I give them money each month, right?

Well, thankfully, I did have a clause in my coverage that covered damage to my vehicle caused by weather. I tell you that was a relief! I mean my car was definitely able to be drive, but it looked horrible.

When looking for car insurance, always compare and contrast and make sure you are getting the best quote possible. Insurance companies and the insurance business period is a very competitive business.

These companies are fighting for your business and need you as much as you need them! One thing you should do after you find a company you feel best with, you should take some things into consideration. One consideration being what part of the nation do I live in?

For example, tornado alley where there are a lot of hail and tornados stretches from Texas all the way to northern parts of Nebraska and stretching east. Oklahoma is a hot spot for tornadoes. If you live in these areas, make sure you’re auto coverage includes coverage of storms. This is usually a low cost addition to your coverage and can be highly beneficial if and when you’re vehicle is damaged due to weather.
